Notes on Patanjali

Patanjali
Source of yoga – is taught through the story of Patanjali
Watching and resting
Ananta – something that cannot be measured
A snake – flexible and as hard as needs be
Attention – comfort – absence of pain
Just living on breath – “vatasana”
Ananta is a good example to mankind
Amsha-avatara – a small part of the being descends
Anjali – gesture
Asking for something – expecting something

He taught how to speak: Mahapushpam
He taught how to be healthy: Ayurveda
He taught how to have a stable, quiet mind: Yoga
